The question I'd like to pose now is: is our current wedding cake tradition evolving again? With the creation of cake pops, mini desserts, candy buffets and ornate cupcakes, are we taking the ancient tradition and making it our own yet again? Part of hosting a wedding is throwing a party for your guests that is unforgettable, and let’s face it, wedding cake is often easily forgotten! But, delectable treats are much more fun!
How about a list of creative alternatives…. Mini dessert bar with tartlets, cake pops and petit fours; a cake-looking tower made out of donuts; assorted pies; ice cream sundae bar; ice cream cookie sandwiches. Ask your venue if they have suggestions for a bakery or pastry chef.
Really, at today’s wedding, the dessert should reflect the personality of the Bride and Groom. If neither of you likes cake, why would you spend hundreds of dollars buying cake for other people? Spend your time and money coming up with something creative and fun that says, “Thanks for celebrating with me!”/p>
Candy buffets are becoming more and more popular, consider dual purposing it for fun and favors. Have stickers printed with your names, a message, or your new address and put them on the containers that you have available for your guests at your candy buffet.

the Wedding Cake ... an outdated tradition??
