Centerpieces

Centerpieces ..... the easily forgotten wedding d’ecor

Do you remember the centerpieces from the last wedding you attended? Of course you want them to be beautiful, after all, everyone will be looking at them for the entire reception, but are they truly remembered? Consider these ideas for saving on your budget or for multi-purposing your centerpieces.

If budget is an issue for you, you may want to consider creating your own centerpieces. It is easy and inexpensive to purchase all sorts of versatile vases, anywhere from online to your local craft or discount home store. More often than not, with a little bit of shopping you can spend less on purchasing vases than a rental fee from a florist

Mirrored tiles to set the vase on can be purchased at any large home improvement store in the bathroom section (I buy the beveled 12x12, they come 6 to a box). Add a few tea light candles and some colored decorative marbles to the mirror and a few floating candles to the vase and viola! You’ve got yourself a beautiful centerpiece that cost you next to nothing!

You prefer flowers? Well there are still much more budget conscious ways to add flowers to your décor. Many of the larger warehouse stores have floral departments. My experience has been that they have wonderful quality flowers and will let you order them in advance. And if you aren’t super picky, you can even get them pre-arranged! You’ll pay a fraction of what you would pay someone else to do them.

If you do create your own centerpieces, be sure to ask your reception site coordinator if the venue has staff available to set them up for you or if you have to have them put out yourself. Either way, find someone you trust to take care of the details for you, this should be the last thing you worry about on the big day!

Lots of people will usually offer, “Let me know what I can do to help”. If they are willing to pick them up the day before and set them out on the tables before the wedding, you’ve just saved yourself not only on your arrangements, but on a delivery fee as well.

What about a double purpose for your centerpieces? Make your centerpieces your favors. Groupings of flowers tied by ribbon or bunched in a cone and set in a larger vase or bowl that guests can easily take with them would be a wonderful way to thank your guests for helping you celebrate.
