Capturing your memories

Let’s face it weddings can be expensive! As you plan your special day, if you are working within a budget, there are many things you’ll want to consider, ways to cut corners, things you can ask friends to help you with that may keep the cost down. There are some things that maybe in the grand scheme of things aren’t really that important. Favors, minor décor or programs can be done by friends or completely eliminated and the likelihood is that no one would ever notice. You could even play with your menu if the budget is really tight. Talk to your caterer about nice but less expensive options that they may offer.

It would also be a great idea to ask friends to take candid shots of your wedding as a way to capture some really fun moments. However, the one thing that you don’t want to skimp on is your photography. These are your memories! As much as you think you’ll remember your wedding day, there is no way you’ll remember everything. And trust me, having a friend “with a really nice camera” does not a wedding photographer make.

Your wedding photographer should be experienced. He or she should have a portfolio of weddings to show you. They should have suggestions for combinations of family shots that aren’t to be forgotten and timelines of events to help you plan. Their work should be creative and catch your eye. Not every photographer’s work will suit your personality, so take some time in making your decision. With resources like Facebook these days, see who your friends are “liking”, you can virtually interview photographers before you even have to pick up the phone.

IDon’t let your precious memories get away, hire the right photographer and your memories will stay with you always.
